Teknik Salon has been part of the Kitchener community since 1989. We've been around long enough to know that a good salon isn't really about the chairs or the products, it's about the people behind the chair. We're looking for stylists who care about their craft and want to build something real here, not just clock in for a paycheque.

If you've been feeling stuck somewhere that doesn't invest in you, or you're just starting out and want real training instead of being thrown to the wolves, we'd genuinely like to meet you.

What it's actually like working here

We've built up a loyal client base over three and a half decades, so you're not starting from zero. Our team is tight knit. Co-managers Domenic, Joe and Lesley are around and involved, not stuck in an office somewhere. Stylists here specialize in different things, from precision cuts to custom colouring to keratin smoothing, and everyone's willing to help each other out.

Behind the scenes we run on Phorest for booking and client management and Shopify for retail, so the admin side of things doesn't eat into your day. You focus on clients, we handle the systems.

What we're looking for

•        Hair Stylist: you're licensed, you care about your clients, and you want room to grow your own book of business

•        Apprentice Stylist: you're new to the industry or recently graduated from cosmetology school and want proper mentorship, not guesswork

If neither of those is quite you but you think you'd be a good fit anyway, reach out. We'd rather have that conversation than miss out on someone good.

Training that actually means something

Our apprenticeship program is broken into five phases, each one building on the last. You'll work through mannequin practice before moving to live clients, with real feedback and sign off at every stage along the way. By the time you're finished, you'll actually feel ready, not just certified.
