• Finding the Right Conditioner •

NOTES ON USEAGE
One of the top reasons why people don’t like certain conditioners is because they use them incorrectly. If a conditioner’s instructions say to leave it on for three to five minutes, it's probably an indication you should do it. That said, if you don’t get results by following directions, try leaving the conditioner in for a minute or two less if it is weighing your hair down, or add time if your hair felt dry after the first try. Also, make sure to work conditioner through with a detangling comb to cover every single strand. It is recommended that a conditioner is preceded by a shampoo made by the same manufacturer.
HAIR TYPE: Fine or Thin Hair
Contrary to popular belief, fine or thin hair does need conditioning, but veer toward light weight, volumizing formulas that rinse out. You want to boost body and shine and control fly-aways, which can occur when your hair isn’t properly moisturized. There are also some ingredients to look for that will help thicken and strengthen fine hair without weighing it down like Panthenol, Proteins, Royal Jelly and Wheat Germ. If you have fine hair, avoid applying conditioner to the crown area. Start about two inches from the roots, concentrating on the ends which typically need more hydration. For light daily conditioning, Kaaral Hydra conditioner is a suitable choice. For hair that is damaged due to chemical treatments such as colours, perms or straighteners, Kaaral's X-Real is an excellent solution due to its combination of ingredients including Wheat Germ and Royal Jelly.
HAIR TYPE: Normal or Medium Hair
Balanced hydration helps maintain normal hair’s healthy texture. You know your hair is normal if you have no specific hair issues, and hair is shiny and doesn’t break often. Healthy hair ingredients like vitamins A, C, E, and wheat proteins will maintain moisture levels and preserve your hair’s vitality and strength. Look for formulas intended for daily use such as Kaaral Synergy conditioner. For the occasional need of a deeper conditioner, try Kaaral X-Form Real.
HAIR TYPE: Curly Hair
Curly hair needs moisturizing conditioners to add shine and essential nourishment to hair. Natural scalp oils don’t make it past the first few inches of hair, leaving ends dry and frazzled. Our stylists recommend that super curly, kinky hair types should use a conditioner that’s high in protein (i.e. listed as one of the key ingredients). Kaaral Papa Reale (Royal Jelly) is an excellent solution for curly hair. It is rich in protein and will add copious moisture to curly hair.
HAIR TYPE: Thick Hair
Thick, full strands can often look fuller on the bottom instead of at the roots, and if hair is coarse wayward strands need to be tamed. Softening conditioners such as Kaaral X-Form or Papa Reale add a little weight, creating a silky texture and help to smooth out volume.
HAIR TYPE: Oily Hair
Ironically, a dry scalp can cause oily hair. To soothe the dryness, oil glands in the scalp produce an abundance of oil, which causes your hair to look and feel greasy. Conditioner should only be used on the ends of oily hair, and used sparingly, to promote healthy moisture balance. Try weightless formulas such as Kaaral Synergy conditioner. To battle chronic oily hair, use products which are specifically designed for this purpose such as KO5 Sebum balancing shampoo, drops and vials.
HAIR TYPE: Dry, Damaged or Chemically Treated
Hair that is excessively dry or damaged needs the hydrating surge of an intensive treatment such as Kaaral X-Form Real or Papa Reale. Both these conditioners are safe for daily use as well as deeper treatments for longer periods of time. For additional nourishment, use a leave-in conditioner like Kaaral X-Form Motion to transform parched hair into silky, manageable strands. Moisture from enriching ingredients like wheat germ help fill in damaged areas of the cuticle, making your hair smoother, stronger and softer.
HAIR TYPE: Colour-Treated
There are conditioners formulated for highlighted and colour-treated hair, with ingredients designed to seal the cuticle, preserve and protect colour from rinsing down the drain. Kaaral Life Colour conditioner uses the extraordinary properties of blackberry vinegar to enhance the sheen of your hair while protecting your colour from fading.
HAIR NEEDS: Hair Loss
For hair that’s thinning, support growth by adding a specially formulated hair loss shampoo to your regimen. Stimulate the scalp and hair follicles with KO5 Anticaduta Shampoo. For a complete hair loss prevention routine, use the shampoo in conjunction with KO5 Andticaduta Vials and drops.

• Finding the Right Shampoo •

NOTES ON USEAGE
Many days, the difference between a good hair day and a bad one begins with the very first product applied to your hair; shampoo. How do you know you are using the right one? It all depends on your hair type. Begin by looking for a shampoo that is formulated for your hair type, texture and quality. Then refine your search based on your individual needs like protecting your colour.
HAIR TYPE: Fine or Thin Hair
If your hair is thin or fine, use lightweight, thickening or volumizing formulas that will add texture and plump up your strands, while strengthening and reinforcing hair. Kaaral K05 Anticaduta (anti-hair loss) shampoo uses tea tree oil to rejuvenate your scalp encouraging new hair growth while strengthening your existing hair. If more volume is all you need, look for a shampoo formulated to add fullness like Kaaral Energy shampoo.
HAIR TYPE: Normal or Medium Hair
If you’re lucky enough to have normal (balanced) hair, a basic neutral PH shampoo is ideal for you. All you need to do is concentrate on maintaining or preserving the health of your hair. A product recommendation is Kaaral Softly shampoo which will help maintain moisture levels while improving manageability, softness and shine.
HAIR TYPE: Curly, Wavy Hair
Curly hair usually lacks moisture. This is why curly hair can sometimes appear dry or frizzy. Using a shampoo that constantly deposits moisture into your strands is the key to maintaining you hair's softness, curl formation and taming frizz. Curly hair requires extra moisture because the natural oils from your scalp don’t always make it down the twists and turns of your hair shaft. Our product recommendation for your curly locks is Kaaral Relax shampoo which can be used daily if needed.
HAIR TYPE: Oily Hair
Keeping your scalp healthy is the foundation for healthy hair. Contrary to what you’d expect, oily hair is caused by a dry scalp (your scalp overcompensates for dryness by producing more oil which sits on your roots). Use a mild shampoo designed to balance the scalp. Shampoos with tea tree oil help to perform this action. Avoid scrubbing your scalp, which can over-stimulate the oil-producing sebaceous glands. Our product suggestion is Kaaral K05 Sebonormalizzante (sebum balancing) shampoo. For the full effect of the K05 regime, consider the K05 Lozione Sebonormalizzante vials and the Pre-Treatment Gocce (drops).
HAIR TYPE: Dry, Damaged or Chemically Treated
Hair that is dry, weak or damaged due to chemical treatments such as colour, needs an extra dose of moisture to replenish parched strands, and the same goes for hair that’s damaged from heat or environmental exposure. It’s also wise to avoid washing your hair everyday to give your scalp a chance to produce natural lubricating oils. Look for nourishing formulas that will hydrate, detangle hair, and smooth the cuticle while cleansing. If you’ve had your hair relaxed or permanently straightened, look for a shampoo that will enhance your treatment and enrich your locks. Tip: Look for a conditioner that matches your shampoo. Our product recommendation is Kaaral Colore shampoo or K05 X-Pure shampoo.
HAIR TYPE: Flaky Scalp
HAIR NEEDS: Hair Loss
Men and women alike can experience hair loss at different stages of life. If you are worried about thinning hair, you can encourage growth (and maintain what you still have) with hair loss shampoos formulated to stimulate the scalp and hair follicle. Shampoo alone may not completely solve the problem, but fortifying formulas will help thicken strands and promote new growth. Our product recommendations are K05 Shampoo andticaduta, Lozionne Anticaduta and Lozionne Gocce.

• Smoothing Frizz •

Everyone can experience frizzy hair, whether your hair is curly, straight or in between. Frizz can be caused by weather, damage from careless heat styling (we can’t say it enough, use heat protectant!); or just daily wear and tear. Fight the war on frizz by applying a smoothing serum on damp hair to smooth and seal strands, block humidity and boost shine. If hair is thick or curly you will need to use more serum than if your hair is straight or wavy. If you are using a serum as well as a gel, apply your serum first mainly from mid shaft to ends. Our product suggestion is Kaaral Idrogloss, Kaaral Cristalli and Kaaral Crema Lotion. A great finishing pomade is Pink Up Flex Gum.

• Boosting Volume •

Lack of volume is a common complaint we hear from clients. Use a root lifting spray and / or gel to give you a boost. Fine and thin hair is easily weighed down by certain products. If hair is fine, focus on lightweight gels and mousses intended to amplify volume. Using a lightweight gel through the mid shaft and ends is an excellent way to add thickness throughout the entire length of the hair which is often neglected. Our product recommendation is Pink Up Air gel or Kaaral Volook Mousse. Definer Spray is also excellent as a root lifter.

• Enhancing Shine •

Glossy, shiny hair is the top request we hear when it comes to designing a colour or cut. This applies to all lengths and styles. To create gorgeous shiny hair, apply a shine enhancing serum on wet or dry hair. Hold your style in place and add lustrous shine with a finishing spray. Using a flat iron and a professional hair dryer will compliment your product routine for the shiniest results. Our product recommendation is Kaaral Cristalli and Brillante Glossing for the shine and Kaaral Spray Up for a medium hold. Try Kaaral Flat Spray for a stronger hold

• Solve Thinning Hair •

There are two ways to solve thinning hair. The first step is to stop thinning process dead in its tracks. This can be achieved effectively by using a Trichology system. Trichology is the branch of medicine that deals with the scientific study of the health of hair and scalp. The ingredients in such a product are designed to stimulate hair growth at the scalp and strengthen fine, brittle hair allowing it to grow longer, faster. Our product recommendation is K05 Shampoo Anticaduta, Lozione Anticaduta (vials) and Lozione Gocce.

The second solution to thinning hair is a cosmetic solution. Men and women with thinning hair can now use keratin fibers to temporarily give the appearance of thicker hair. This is an instant way to feel better and younger. Simply shake the container over your thinning area until it’s is covered, then use a touch of hair spray to lock it in. Presto! No sign of scalp. Amazing. Our product recommendation is Dr. Jones Instant Hair.

• Make Up - How to choose the right Foundation •

Many women find using foundation intimidating and avoid it all together. My opinion on foundation is just what it’s called, the foundation of your make up look.

Giving yourself the clean even complexion to begin with will make your make up, cheeks and lips look better.

Over the next couple of weeks I will be sharing some of my tricks to make foundation a quick and easy step in your daily routine.

Let’s start by choosing the correct colour for your face. I can’t stress this enough, match your foundation to your complexion, not to the one you would like to have. Also, when I say match the colour, I do mean your face, not your hand. Always test the colour on your face, I know this seems obvious but your face and your hand are not the same colour. Blend a small amount of foundation onto your jaw line. This is where most women need the least correction, making it the ideal colour for your face. If you are unsure consult a professional here at Teknik. We are happy to help you get started by finding your colour together. Our Make Up line-Beauty Addicts offers a variety of colours as well as a few types of coverage.

Sheer Mineral Tint is the perfect "barely there glow" in seven natural shades. A mineral-based, oil-free, ultra-sheer tinted moisturizer with an SPF 20 to protect the skin while appearing flawless and radiant! An outstanding blend of ingredients like Ginseng Root Extract, and Vitamins A, C and E as powerful anti-oxidants. Your skin basks in sheer, gorgeous, safe color!

Face 2 Face is a lightweight gel-to-powder formulation offers buildable, sheer to medium coverage and effectively delivers a revolutionary blend of potent Antioxidants including Green Tea, Vitamin A and E and Dermaxyl - proven to stimulate collagen production providing your skin with a smooth, radiant, flawless finish.

Choosing the right colour is one thing, but how do you make the right choice with all the different formulas out there? Do you want a foundation or a tinted moisturizer? Do you know which one is right for you? It all depends on the result you are looking for. If you are looking to correct imperfections, choose foundation. It will cover the face and conceal problem areas. If you prefer a more natural look, choose a tinted moisturizer. It will even out your skin tone while being invisible. Even though this is called a tinted “moisturizer”, do not rely on this as a source of moisture for your face. Think of it instead as a sheer foundation. A good moisturizer is still needed everyday and will act as a primer, making foundation of any kind go on more smoothly. Try Cures Protective Day Crème; it will protect your skin from your make up and the environment.

The versatility of a tinted moisturizer during the day is great. It looks great under harsh office lightning and outside in natural light. With Beauty Addicts Mineral Sheer Tint, your skin will feel fabulous all day and it has the added benefit of SPF20!

In the evening if you want to amp up your make up look, a foundation creates a polished, clean canvas for more dramatic make up. For this, try Beauty Addicts Face2Face Weightless Gel Foundation, it blends easily and lasts all night long!

• Make Up - Applying Your Foundation •

Now that we have picked our perfect foundation, it’s just a matter of applying it perfectly. When you are applying your foundation, of course it’s a matter of preference but your freshly washed hands are the easiest to work with. If you are using a gel to powder foundation, like Beauty Addicts Face2Face Weightless Foundation, you will want to use the sponge that is included with the product. When applying foundation, work from the center of the face out. In doing so you will get the most coverage in this area (where women tend to need the most correction). It will also ensure a lighter coverage as you move towards the perimeter of the face, making it easier to blend away the “make up mask” appearance we all fear. Also, apply the foundation right over your eyes and lips; it will help make your eye shadow and lipstick last longer.
Just make sure to use a moisturizing lip gloss, as foundation can be drying to your lips. Qtica Intense Lip Repair Balm does an excellent job at keeping lips soft and kissable.

• Make Up - Eyeliner •

Make up artists are often asked the question, “How do I make my eyes look bigger?” Well there are many tricks we use in the industry to give you the bigger, brighter and more striking eye you desire. Starting with the biggest misconception women have; black eyeliner. Encircling the eye with heavy black eyeliner actually makes the eye look smaller. We all love the slimming effect that the little black dress has, well, a thick black line around the eye does the same thing, minimizes the eye. Try drawing the line half way from the outer corner in. Just make sure to blend where the line ends for a seamless look. If you absolutely must have a dramatic black line, gradually thin the line as you go towards the inner corner of the eye. Try our Beauty Addicts EffortlessEYES for a smooth application and finish.

• Make Up - Eye Shadow •

When trying to make your eyes look bigger it isn’t important what colour eye shadow you use; more so where you use them. Regardless of the colour palette you choose; dark and dramatic, colourful or natural, a second colour is necessary to complete the look. A lighter reflective colour will highlight the eye. Think white, shimmery silver or soft gold. Beauty Addicts SolutionEYES takes the guess work out for you by compiling four complimentary colours in one compact. Start by applying your shadow over the whole eye, and then add the lighter shadow on the inner corner. This effect brightens the eye for a youthful look. Then add the lighter shadow under the eyebrow. This is what we like to call an instant face lift. It gives the appearance of a lifted brow line, making the eyes look bigger.

• Make Up - Lip Liner •

Everyone wants a fuller “Angelina” lip these days, and besides getting fillers injected into your lips, here are a couple of less invasive tips to make your lips look larger. The first step is lip liner. I know many women are afraid of getting that two tone 80’s look that is associated with lip liner, but there is a simple solution to that problem. Always match your lip liner to your lipstick. With Beauty Addicts colour families you can be sure your liner is a perfect match. Now apply the liner over the edge of your lip and fill the lip in, this will also ensure a longer lasting colour. Try Beauty Addicts Luscious LIPS and remember when your lips are defined they will look bigger.

• Make Up - Lip Colour •

The colour of lipstick you choose does make a difference in achieving a full lip. A bright colour, like red, always makes lips look bigger. If you want a natural defined lip choose a lip liner that matches your lip instead of your lip colour. Just make sure to apply a glossy top to it. The shiny gloss will also make your lips pop.

• Make Up - Lips •

Highlighting your lips can be just as effective as highlighting your eyes, so get out the white eyeliner again. Before applying your lip liner, line the top of your lips in the center (just past the two peeks of your lips) with a white pencil. Remember to blend this in well, you want the area to be lighter not white. This will make your lips more pronounced, giving you that pouty look. After you’ve lined and coloured your lips, a lighter shimmery lip gloss applied directly in the center of the lips makes them look fuller, adding to that pouty effect. Beauty Addicts takes the guess work out with their RelationLIPS quads, giving four complimentary lip colours from light and shimmery to colour rich in each palette.
